Live at the Sherman Library! Miami Momentum Dance Company: The Ugly Duckling (All Ages)

Miami Momentum Dance Company: The Ugly Ducklingnor

Miami Momentum Dance Company is one of the oldest professional dance companies in Florida. Its founder and choreographer Delma Iles holds an M.F.A. degree in Dance from New York University, and a B.A. degree in Teaching of Dance from Virginia Intermont College. She has performed with the Cincinnati Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Atlanta Ballet.

The Ugly Duckling was first published in 1843 by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, and it has been adapted into many different art forms including an animated short film by Walt Disney, a classical music piece by Sergei Prokofiev, and as a pop song by Danny Kaye. In this original dance piece by Miami Momentum Dance Company, children will see the classic tale come to life through the art of modern dance. After the performance, children will be led in a short movement activity and they will have the opportunity to meet the dancers and ask questions.

This program is made possible by a gift from the Charles P. Ferro Foundation.
