The Youth Services Librarians at the NSU Alvin Sherman Library love frogs! If you've seen our Silly Stories with the Shermanettes storytimes, you may have seen us act out a skit about a frog, a chicken and a librarian. It's a very silly old joke that goes something like this:
A chicken comes into the library, walks up the the librarian, and squawks: "Book, book, book, BOOK!" The librarian gives the chicken some books, and the chicken leaves.
The chicken comes into the library the next day, and once again squawks: "Book, book, book, BOOK!" The librarian gives the chicken some books, and the chicken leaves.
The next day, the librarian is once again visited by the chicken, who walks up to her and squawks: "Book, book, book, BOOK!" The librarian gives the chicken some books, and the chicken leaves.
By now, the librarian is very curious about the mysterious chicken, so she follows the chicken out the door and to a nearby marsh. The librarian creeps quietly closer, and sees a small frog next to the chicken. As the chicken shows the frog each book, the frog hops up and down, ribbiting: "Read it, read it, read it..."
