NOTICE:  This video provides the definition of a libguide and how to navigate it’s main pages.  The ending of this video is catered to students of the Environmental Science major.  If you are not an Environmental Science major, please speak to Reference to find out who your major’s Subject Specialist is to obtain a list of libguides that they have created for your success!

There are so many things that the library has to offer, that sometimes it can be overwhelming or confusing on where to start, where to go, or what to do.  Library Guides, or Libguides, can help!  Libguides are custom made by librarians and are tailored specifically to a certain need – like your coursework, or a particular subject area of interest.  These guides will give you jump off points for diving into your research projects or simply fueling your curiosity.

You can search these guides two different ways.  The first way is by going to the Alvin Sherman Library main webpage, at http://sherman.library.nova.edu.  On the bottom right hand side of the screen you will see the box that contains a searchable and browsable area for all of NSU’s libguides.  Type in the course number, the name of a course, or a subject area of interest to you, to search what guides are available or you can use the scrolling box to browse the subject areas available.

You can also go to the Libguides homepage directly, at http://nova.campusguides.com to search and browse through the NSU Libguide Collection.  From this page, you can still search for a course number or name or a subject area as you can from the library home page, but on this page, you can browse a few different ways.  The default is by subject area, but you can also see a list of ALL guides, guides by library, guides by type (such as Course Guides vs Subject Guides), and guides by owner.  Craig Amos, Keri Baker, and Jaime Goldman, Environmental Science Subject Librarians, have all written guides that pertain to your courses and subject areas.  Browsing for us on this page will guarantee results that you need for your coursework.
