Greetings and Welcome!
On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your support and interest in the Circle of Friends for the Nova Southeastern University Alvin Sherman Library. Our goal is to continue building a better library, one friend at a time. That means working with you and our community to help ensure the expansion and continuation of many essential library services and resources. Since 1999, our friends group has been doing just that. And today, we can say that our efforts have reached every aspect of the library and more importantly, helped build a better NSU and Broward County Community.
Over the past several years, the Circle of Friends funds have helped:
- Expand the library’s research capability by purchasing new academic databases and print collections;
- Support librarians to better assist patrons using new technology;
- Provide best-selling downloadable e-books and audiobooks for children, teens and adults;
- Enhance the children’s reading area with new tables and specialized early childhood computers, and refurbished the Teen Room;
- Improve disabled patrons’ access to the library’s resources by updating the Assistive Technology Room;
- Enrich the experience of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by adding special materials to be used at the All Star Storytime;
- The 2016 gift, the Collaborative Study Center, is now one of the most popular and well used study areas in the library for group study and project work
- The support from the Circle of Friends over the past years for StoryFest, the Library’s early childhood and family literacy festival, has provided for dynamic programming, face painting and more.
