Needle Arts of the Eighteenth Century: Broderie Perse and Whole Cloth Quilting

Learn about sewing techniques and needlework done by women in the eighteenth century. Nora Quinlan, Director of Reference, will lead a demonstration workshop on the art of Broderie Perse (chintz applique) and whole cloth quilting.

This program  is part of a series of  held in conjunction with the Alvin Sherman Library exhibit, The Many Faces of George Washington.

'The Many Faces of George Washington' is a national traveling panel exhibition produced by the Mount Vernon’s Ladies’ Association in conjunction with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. The traveling panel exhibition is supported by a generous grant from the F.M. Kirby Foundation.
