Genealogy 101: Introduction to Genealogy Research
Genealogy is one of America's fastest growing hobbies. Families, individuals, the young and the old, can easily participate in constructing a family history. This class will provides basic information on the genealogical research materials available at the Alvin Sherman Library, as well as resources available online and in the immediate community. This program is part of a series on genealogy held in conjunction with the Alvin Sherman Library exhibit, Emma Lazarus: Voice of Liberty, Voice of Conscience. Emma Lazarus: Voice of Liberty, Voice of Conscience was developed by Nextbook, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Jewish literature, culture, and ideas, and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The national tour of the exhibit has been made possible by grants from the Charles H. Revson Foundation, the Righteous Persons Foundation, the David Berg Foundation, and an anonymous donor, with additional support from Tablet Magazine: A New Read on Jewish Life.
